The Hive Newsletter – January 2026

New year, new Bee!

In case you missed it, at the start of the year, I left Etsy. All of my patterns are now exclusively on Kofi (except for the freebies you can find here)! Though there’s been an understandable drop in sales, my stress has reduced dramatically, so it’s been worth it.

I’m also taking things a bit slower with sewing, so I can focus on game development. But I still managed to create something this month: the Woodland Creatures!

They were designed for magnetic dress-up dolls, but their little faces were so sweet, I had to sew them as they are! Don’t fret, though, the dress-up dolls will still happen someday 🙂

I also had a free pattern designed AND sewn by the first week of January, but I wanted photos outside, and the weather was not complying–until recently! We had a nice enough day, so I went for a trek, and here’s the result:

It’s the Jet Lag logo! Jet Lag came to my hometown during their latest season, which was not only really cool—it was kind of meaningful. I was introduced to Jet Lag through a random internet comment in January last year. I was going through some pretty rough times, and Jet Lag was exactly the distraction I needed.

So this January, watching the lads hide in my hometown felt really special. I always wanted to visit some of the places they’ve featured, and now I have! I had a great time retracing Adam’s route, and it really made me appreciate where I live. The pattern will be flying in on the 4th of February!

Then, on the 7th of February, I’ll be doing my first-ever Kofi sale! My most ~romantic~ patterns will be 25% off for the Valentine season!

But if you want a little magic in your Valentine, look no further. This month’s Hive freebie is a redesign of my old pattern, the Magician’s Valentine. Sew this and present it to the person you love, while asking—is this your card?

Happy sewing!
