The Hive Newsletter – December 2025

It’s time to send off 2025 the stitchy way!

This month saw the release of the Teddy Bear Picnic! The pattern is the first to include assets from my own game, and is even interactive itself—it comes with instructions and charts for making a magnetic version!

Though I loved making both picnics, I regret doing them at the same time. They took weeks of concentrated effort, and in the end, neither got to shine on their own! By the end of it, I wanted to be doing anything else. So I made the Snow Bunnies!

I designed them instead of this month’s fanart freebie, because I was more enthused about sewing them, and they’re pretty season-specific. I feel bad, but the bunnies have been some of the most fun I’ve had sewing in a while!

So, usually, I’d tease whatever I’m working on next. But there’s nothing planned! I was going to take a break in January to prepare for the months ahead, but instead, I’m not preparing anything.

At the beginning of 2025, I made plans, and they fell apart immediately. I tried to stick to a bare-minimum schedule, to attempt to balance the shop and game development, but it still always came out in favour of the shop. Which might be fine, if the shop was doing well, but it’s not.

Simply put, I’m bad at business. I’m tired of trying to pander to an imaginary audience. I want to make cross stitches, not content. So, I’m giving up on schedules and plans! In 2026, I’m doing whatever I want, whenever I want to. Bunnies will probably be involved.

I also don’t want to sell via Etsy, so I’m leaving in January, potentially for good. I’m sick of the same shit everyone else is—fees, dropshipping, AI. My sales are not good enough to justify staying. However, my Kofi will remain. And, of course, I hope to eventually establish the shop on this site!

Thank you for all your kindness this year. If you bought something from my shop, sewed a pattern of mine, or are just here reading this—thank you!

Though it’s been rough, I’m in a much better place than I was a year ago. During my darkest times in January, I made this rainbow, to bring me the brightness and colour I needed. If you need something like that in your life right now, the pattern is below. I wish you all the best in 2026!

Happy sewing!
